Dalarna’s Villa Offers Useful Lessons
How can we build houses as sustainable as possible and as far as possible prevent damage due, for example, fire and water leaks? The Dalarna’s Villa research project, which was set up to improve competence in the construction industry when it comes to long-term sustainable buildings with healthy indoor environments for residents, will hopefully provide […]
Clean Air at Home
In Dalarnas Villa, three different varieties of modern energy-efficient ventilation systems which ensure that the air is healthy to breathe are being tested. Dalarnas Villa in Hinsnoret near Falun, is a 150 cubic metre villa in which several different modern technologies are being tested. The first test of ventilation, which started in August 2019, was […]
Prosumerism and EPC Tools Help Procure an Effective Solar Power Plant Solution in Gulbene Municipality
The EFFECT4buildings prosumerism tool helps with calculations regarding PV system in the project planning stage. It helps determine the optimal size of the PV system, find out how much electricity can be produced from a selected area, make financial calculations, and helps find out how a storage system would improve PV system’s efficiency. Vidzeme Planning […]
A succesful Careful Renovation

EFFECT4buildings Toolbox Highly Visible in FISU Newsletter
Finnish Sustainable Communities (FISU) network which is a network of Finnish municipalities committed to working towards becoming carbon neutral and waste-free and curbing overconsumption by 2050, is talking about EFFECT4buildings Toolbox for assessing energy efficiency measures. Read more: https://uutiskirje.motiva.fi/a/s/23436511-194312172c0ee7db42d816e68ef311ca/4109655 The article covers two of the project tools – Financial Calculation Tool and Bundling. The Financial Calculation Tool helps assessing the profitability of energy efficiencymeasures which can be challenging. This tool can be used to compare two different energy efficiency solutions and to gain a better understanding of the profitability of investments. To compare the profitability of different solutions, the tool assesses the future development of energy and water prices by analysing two different annual price changes. Bundling tool which uses Total Concept Method (TCM) combines or “bundles” several smaller energy efficiency measures together into a bigger package. the more profitable measures support the less profitable ones which, if assessed individually, would not meet the minimum value determined by the building owner. This way, a bigger package can be carried out instead of single measures.
